| S'jiro paused before the open door of Weyrwoman Karene's office, rapping politely at the edge of the door frame to announce his presence. The Bronzerider's other hand left his pocket, assuming a more respectable attitude toward the Goldrider. "May I enter? We had an appointment concerning the transfer to Igen." He waited without any impatience for Karene to admit him, not wanting to be intrusive if she hadn't the time for him yet. The Bronzerider never made it seem as though he was in much of a hurry, so he was willing to wait, if she was. Obviously. It was typical that he was very laid back. His apparent 'laziness' though, did not reflect an unwillingness to be capable and dependable, and he certainly wasn't disobedient when it came to taking orders from his superiors; so there were some positive points in his defense, even if he did not see the total worth of lower rankers. Likewise, though he had seeming little ambition at this point in his life of his own, he was no pushover either, and wasn't one to let others easily talk him into things. Same was the case with his wanting to transfer with Sh'nar. Though his reason wasn't purely based on his own volition, it wasn't because he had absolutely no conviction of his own, always letting Sh'nar jerk him around either. Though he didn't mind Sh'nars bad habit of doing that much of the time -S'jiro was too laid back to say anything about it.

| “Yes we do, come in S’jiro.” She said with a wave of her hand and indicated he take a seat wherever he was comfortable. She sat in the head position opposite the doorway. Karene was in her riding leathers, her hair braided back away from her oval face. She had her blue eyes focused on a pile of paperwork. The Weyrwoman always seemed to be unaware of her beauty and grace while she was incredibly aware of other things. The Goldrider didn’t really wait for him to enter to begin talking. She was in a rush, even if he wasn’t. “If you don’t mind I’m going to say skip the niceties. I don’t have a lot of time for chit chat as you may imagine.” She said and went on, “Today I’m going to ask you some questions and if your answers are acceptable we will discuss Igen WEyr and what your position will be if you transfer there.” She let him think about the word position for a moment. It was not lost on her what S’jiro’s reputation was. She kept a very close eye on the Bronzeriders of Fort Weyr. “My first question for you is why do you want to be transferred to Igen Weyr?” Her light blue eyes moved from the papers to his face, trying to get a feel for the emotions behind his words. | |

| S'jiro stepped into Karene's office understanding her rush, but there was still no hastening on his own part. After all, if she wanted to talk before he'd even come into the room, then she wouldn't mind talking as he took his time getting there. And he didn't care either way. In all honesty, he would rather her not wait on him. Booted feet scuffed the floor as he came to a stop between a couple of chairs situated across the desk from the Weyrwoman, glancing down at the papers under her hand before he decidedly had found himself a place in which to sit. The Bronzerider crossed his legs, leaning back, into the chair as she finished her thoughts to him aloud. Unlike when he was around those he felt inclined to look down upon, S'jiro hosted no sense of the pretentious airs that he was typically so fond of wearing. Nor was he intimidated or nervous in the Weyrwoman's presence; rather, he seemed very relaxed. Not only was he completely at ease, but he seemed a little more subtly business-minded now that he was here -which was a bit of a switch for how things tended to be with him outside of the office space. Somehow, in that moment, he must have been more likely to fill the shoes of a proper, responsible holder's son by the way he carried himself in, than the troublesome Bronzer he could be. Well... perhaps he was both. Karene's question out in the open, he left it hanging for a single breath before his reply came, letting it be assumed in his tone that he'd worked things out logically in his own mind, sharing those thoughts with her now. And he wasn't about to make up some try-to-impress-the-Queen-BS answer; BS certainly wouldn't fly in the face of Karene, and honestly he respected the Weyrwoman more than that. There wasn't much a reason for not simply telling the truth anyway, even if he did try to put it in a pretty package. "To be honest,..." S'jiro's head ducked for a moment, averting his gaze as if taking a moment to figure how to best word it. He leaned onto the arm of his chair then, before his eyes lifted to meet her own evenly. "It's very important to me to be able to fly with riders I know and trust. There are some riders who will be requesting transfer, if they haven't yet already, whom I would not want to fly without. I think...even if I trusted in others as explicitly, there would be something missing if I were to be without the few, close friends I have, who have said they will go to Igen." S'jiro's mouth quirked at one corner in a smirk as that same eyebrow raised in an ever so curious manner, "I guess I'd have to say that's my main reason anyway." And he wasn't going to take up more of her time than necessary with other dawdling thoughts which she may not be interested in. The Weyrwoman was probably just trying to gauge how sincere he was about the move, and wanted to make sure those requesting transfer had thought things through. So,.. sincerity is what she would get. While he let a brief silence fill the space between them, he mulled over her choice of words only a couple of minutes earlier; on her mention of 'position'. That was curious to him, because he knew a woman like Karene only dropped words like that with clear purpose in mind. In any case, he continued to sit back in his chair, waiting for her answer or her next question, whichever she decided to throw at him next. (i hope that works for you Kate >< im losing the battle with sleepiness so losing train of thought lol.) | |

| Karene already had a pretty good idea why S’jiro was in her office. She’d already spoken with Sh’nar who was as adamant about being permitted to go as Belisse was about him being allowed to go. There was little for her to say about it in that case. If Belisse wanted Sh’nar there then she would have to allow him to go. It would be easier to motivate S’jiro if he had his friend with him. She was glad that he had decided to be completely frank with her.
“I’m inclined to allow you to go but I need to know if you are willing to sacrifice some of your freedom and leisure time to do it. If you go, you are being promoted.” Karene said, again heading straight for the point. She was not going to lie to him either, she despised lies. “ Wingsecond.” She said, gaging his reaction as she said the word.
“Sh’nar will be in a separate wing.” She added although he had not mentioned his friend’s name, Karene was well aware of their situation. “Same position.”
Her eyes were still fixed on the young man. “If you feel up to the task, I’ll be happy to allow you to go to Igen. In return I’m going to request that you stop wasting your time harassing Weyrlings and start working on your leadership skills, which you ought to have considering you Impressed a Bronze dragon. If I hear one word from Jah’vi that you are slacking off during Wing practice, I will just as quickly change my mind to keep you here at Fort.”
Karene knew so much more than most people realized. She had her own informants’ throughout the Weyr so that she knew exactly what was going on every day. “I would suggest also that you think long and hard on the political climate surrounding Igen Weyr. A lot of people do not want the Weyr to be reopened. You are not going to be treated with the same respect as a Fort Weyr rider by the Holders and even by a couple of the other Weyrs.”

| Inclining his head to acknowledge her terms of agreement, S'jiro's head canted in slight while he considered what she was saying. He supposed it shouldn't surprise him that there were stipulations even given the fact that regardless of if he agreed or not, she was still going to be in need of riders to begin populating the new Weyr. She only had X number of Bronzeriders, even Brownriders, to work with. But he didn't care for thinking too much into it...at least not that he would admit to anyway. An agreeable smile worked its way across lips slightly pursed together before he spoke up. "I would like to ask you something then. If I am willing to dedicate my time and energy to filling this position for Wing Second, would you be willing to let my sister, Tsuki, go with me to Igen Weyr?" It was a minor request, and one he'd have been making whether she asked him to fill the needed positions or not. And of course, he said nothing of Weyrlings and recent cases of repaying them for their shortcomings. There was nothing criminal in his mind with how he or Sh'nar involved themselves. They were keeping order within the hierarchy as far as S'jiro was concerned. | |

| Karene was surprised that he had a request but she saw no reason why he couldn’t bring someone with him. Weyrfolk of all kinds were permitted to transfer. Many of them were moving with their families. Karene had no wish to separate loved ones. “Of course your sister should move with you. As long as she is willing to change Weyrs I see no reason why she cannot transfer. She will need to make a formal request just like everyone else. Otherwise it would be difficult to keep track of who was leaving and who was staying.”
The Weyrwoman didn’t have anything else to say to him but she was writing in her ledger on the right side of the table. In a way she was only too happy to get him and Sh’nar out of Fort Weyr. They could learn some responsibility finally at Igen Weyr. She was only sorry that she had to pass them off on Belisse and Ambriel.
“There is going to be a pre-opening meeting for the Igen Weyr leaders. I will have Galadrieth fill Zemarith in on the time and place when it has been established. Seeing as you will be a Wingsecond attendance will be mandatory.” It would be a good way to introduce the Bronze and Gold riders who would be in charge of the new Weyr. It would also be a way for her to see how the dynamic would be in the first couple months, before either Gold had flown.
She didn’t particularly like leaving the leadership up to fate but that was the way tradition set it to be. Karene had broken traditions before and it always came back to bite her in some way or another. For the sake of the other Queenriders she had decided to keep tradition this time.

| The Weyrwoman surely needn't worry about sending Sh'nar and S'jiro to Igen. Belisse was perfectly capable of taming Sh'nar, S'jiro could have assured her of that much, and Ambriel? Well, S'jiro might be so lucky as to have the Telgar Queen's favour. Either way, he'd be no trouble as long as others were capable of displaying proper respects.
At the mention of a meeting of all riders transfering to Igen before the actual move, S'jiro was more than agreeable, "I look forward to it. And I will make certain that Tsuki pays you a visit before then. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help in preparation for the move."
