A hard-won peace after long Turns of warfare waxes with the rising of the Red Star - and wanes with simmering intrigue. While Fort stands proud in the face of Threadfall, its Senior Weyrwoman is dead of poison - a phenomenon becoming concerningly common, with other supplies fouled. Murmured blame rests with High Reaches and Weyrleaders crazed with power.

High Reaches Weyr has set itself apart. Dark rumors trickle in from those beholden to it, tales of brutality and tyranny from the Weyr. An ambassador, sent by the Weyrwoman herself, sows chaos among the Fort dragonriders, necessitating a response from the leadership of Fort Weyr. While the newest batch of weyrlings join the ranks of seasoned Fort dragonriders with hope to fight Thread and preserve Pern, they find themselves struggling to keep up in a rapidly changing world.

The recent clutch gave 16 new dragonets to Fort Weyr's ranks, with a strange new mutation appearing - calling themselves Garnets. These new colors are the subject of some horrid rumors. Are they the product of the Red Star? Only time will tell, and with the threat of war looming still, there are hopes that all the new dragonets will be able to handle Thread first and warfare second. Only a few days passed from celebration to horror, when High Reaches Weyr sent two wings to attack Fort Weyr!

The battle was brutal, with High Reaches losing two wings of dragons, several deciding to surrender rather than go down with the ship. Fort Weyr now rallies Pern, calling for action against High Reaches. This act of war cannot be allowed to stand. With the threat of Threadfall and this new act of war, it is hard to feel confidence in the Peacekeepers' Weyr. Weyrwoman Kallia of Gold Imorith has called for change, to turn Fort away from its more liberal stances and back to strict tradition in the hopes of reinforcing what she believes to be a weakness. With bronze dragonets impressing to women, and a new color of dragon, with  war becoming a very real possibility, Fort Weyr must stand strong now or crumble into nothingness.

With the passing of Kallia, the former Weyrwoman, Fort Weyr was left in temporary turmoil. However, Gold Keahith rose soon after, filling the power vacuum left behind. M'rnei of Bronze Eoreanth caught the new Weyrwoman pair in her maiden flight, offering his experience to the Weyr - but how will people feel about a Bendenite leading the progressive people, with the colorful history between Fort and Benden?

While the new Weyrleading pair continue to the investigation into the poisoning of the former Weyrwoman, they now face the struggle of an investigation in the murder of E'li, one of the Wingleaders of Fort. Will Keahith's first clutch, a beautiful collection of 21 eggs, be safe with the threats and danger surrounding it?

Meanwhile, the progress at HR continues slowly but surely. The gold egg donated from Telgar sits on the Sands, but no one is sure if it will even hatch. And everyone is bubbling with rumors of the unusual Flight that took place - a green, flying a Gold?! Even stranger, what appears to be a viable clutch on the Sands! What does this mean for the future of the Weyrs, and for the Peacekeeper's Age at large?
