| Evening was approaching quickly, as the glows around the Gather were lit. The dancing square already had Harpers warming up their instruments. Long rectangular tables with white linen cloths on top of them were filled with good quality foods and wines. Smaller tables were set a short distance from the food, where people could sit and eat or take a respite from the dancing. The largest of these tables was reserved for the Lord and Lady Holders and their personal guests.
Extensive gardens lay beyond the Holder's table and beyond that was the residence of the Lord and Lady Holder and their family. In front of the Lord and Lady Holder's table was open space followed by the dance floor. Specifically the dance square was in the shape of a square but was no different from the rest of the smoothed stone which was common on the walkways around the Hold's Gather grounds. It was a reddish colored stone, with lighter and darker versions of itself throughout creating random designs.
People of all types began to draw near to the not yet open dancing and feasting perimeter. Guards kept anyone from entering without permission while the staff of the Hold itself finished with the last minute details. The Lord and Lady of Igen would be joining them shortly and once they announced so, the area would be open for everyone to enjoy.
At the Holder's residence, the Lord and Lady were ready and waiting for their unmarried children to come to them. They all had to appear at the Gather together as way of formality. They fully expected the first one downstairs to be Zahir and were surprised to see their youngest child come to them first. Havala had darker hair than her siblings, though it was still a light brown. Her hair was curled, and the top half of it was up in a golden net with pearls. The gown she wore was a soft yellow, and the fabric was silky with a layer of a soft, see through fabric over top, allowing the garment more flow.
Zahir was next to come downstairs. Dressed in a black, double breasted jack, black slacks, and shoes, his shirt underneath was white with a deep red almost burgundy colored vest and tie. His father was dressed similarly but was wearing a plum purple color instead. Lady Luaya wore a lace top gown (satin underneath the bodice but not the sleeves), with half length sleeves. The bodice tight to her body, with a v-neck at the top and slightly off the shoulder. The dropped waist led to the full satin skirt, of the lightest purple. Her light blonde hair was completely pulled up in a low bun, with a jeweled comb on either side.
Now they were only waiting for Eolyn who entered at long last, apparently having been helping some girl of Rihan's retinue prepare for the Gather. She came down the stairs finally, wearing hte beautiful blue gown she had on earlier, Her hair was in a similair fashion to her sister's.
Zahir escorted his sister, Havala, behind their parents out the door to the Gather, while Eolyn was escorted by her fiance, Rihan.
They arrived at the Feast table and before being seated, the Lord Holder of Igen made brief announcement, "Let all who Gather here enjoy a night of excellent food and company. Welcome all to the Feast." And the Gaurds began to let everyone who was waiting in. Then the Lord and Lady took their seats at the middle of the long table. Zahir was seated beside their mother, Havala on the other side. Rihan was seated beside their father, with Eolyn on the other side of him. They all had the perfect seats to view the Gather. Drudges would serve their table but the rest of the people would have to fend for themselves.
(Now anyone can post here)
----
Karene was laughing as she thought about what they were going to do now. They had killed some time walking around and now it was finally food time. Even she could feel the burn in her stomach that told her she had not eaten much at all that day. She would not be sitting at the table with the Holders though she had every right to. She would not want to make things awkward for herself. Instead she planned on eating inconspicuously at one of the other tables and then dancing.
"Food and drink and then dancing, L'rue. Then I shall point you in the direction of a girl who needs to be flirted with in order to really piss some Holder's off."
She walked to wear the food was on the tables, and grabbed herself a plate. Karene's eyes might have been bigger than her stomach and Galadrieth too agreed more more more on the food, so perhaps the Gold herself was starting to grow a bit hungry. Feeding Grounds visit tomorrow would be a good idea. Before long her plate was filled with roast herdbeast and vegetables, tubers, grilled fish, with sauce on it. She had a plate full of anything and everything she could fit. When she came to the rolls, she had to stack them on top.
Free food, was free food, after all, she thought, scanning the Grounds for a free table. Spotting one, closer to the dance floor, she went walked over and sat in a chair near the middle of the table, out of habit.

| Rihan waited for his betrothed to arrive at the stairs leading to the gather with a nervous patience. It did not show on his face, but for all of his unfaltering confidence he could still feel something akin to butterflies in his stomach in anticipation of spending an entire evening with Eolyn. When she came to him, he offered a dashing smile, linking her arm through his. "How do the stars hope to compare to such radiance?" The compliment was spoken softly between them for her ears alone as they descended to the gather floor. As they came into fuller light with glows lit all about them, it became apparent that Rihan had changed into different clothes, the colour of his expensive suit being like that of the dark hems of Eolyn's dress, fully complimenting the Lady's attire. Lengthy follicles of black obsidian were styled to frame a sophisticated visage of masculine perfection. His smooth lacquered flesh was embraced in the glove-like fit of luxuriant and costly fabrics, stained in the hues of the midnight sky. A satin, sleeveless overcoat had been fitted to him also, of matte finish and buttoned up the front where a curt mandarin collar closed loosely about his neck. The open tails of that supple coat licked at the knees just above the height of immaculately polished boots which pant legs had been tucked into and bloused over. With each movement, the soft lap of coat tails hinted at even finer detail, as the light of glows winked off of gold flecks that, like Eolyn's dress, had been hammered into the lighter blue under-lining of the robe. It was a wide belt that hugged his waist, having his hand-fan tucked behind, and the knots of his rank were now worn numerous on his shoulder. Rihan led Lady Eolyn gracefully to where they would be seated next to her parents, pulling Eolyn's chair out for her, before he situated himself between her and the lord of Igen. The young Lord of Telgar waited for Quisbon to make his announcement and continued smiling softly, a smile that was reflected in his eyes, as gather goers began to flood in, all taking their seats at a table and reserving places for friends and family, everyone excited to continue with the day's festivities. It pleased him, being there at the Igen gather, but he was most pleased by the fact that he was able to spend it in the company of his fiance. Many times throughout that evening, Rihan would spend moments capturing Eolyn's beauty within his mind's eye so that she would never leave him, even when they were apart. Drudges began serving wine at their table almost immediately, and bringing salads and appetizers to accompany the main courses of roasted meats and rich cream-based sauces. It was after having wet his lips with a drink of the red wine poured into his glass that Rihan turned his head to address Eolyn's father. "Lord Qisbon. The day has been ultimately enjoyable. Seeing the gather square as it is now though, I can only expect an even more outstanding night with you all." Briefly he raised his glass to them, Eolyn's mother and father. "Since we are here also in celebration of the engagement of Eolyn and I, I hope you don't mind that I make a request on the topic. I would like to see the wedding date moved forward. I would like to have us wed as soon as possible. I have to admit that I am already falling in love with your sweet Eolyn. I know there are a lot of things yet to do in preparation, but I can lend as many hands as necessary to finish getting everything ready." Rihan eyes passed from Lady Luaya to Lord Qisbon, and there, the look in his eye was not that of a man who’d already taken what he wanted, but rather, it was the look of a man’s supreme desire that was evident. Rihan knew that Qisbon wouldn’t have missed that expression, and would understand such unspoken reasoning. | |

| "As my Weyrwoman commands," L'rue said merrily. He'd eaten little as well, but availed himself of wine along the way. Not that he needed the wine, any goldrider was fine company. And Karene in particular, when she let her hair down and forgot her responsibilities, was a delight. He'd begged her help when choosing a gift for Jasilla, ending up with a ball jointed doll that he was certain his niece would adore. He was right behind her in serving himself, heaping his plate high with a varied assortment. The Weyr could throw a feast, of course, but this food wasn't coming out of their tithe, so he felt free to be a glutton and pile his plate until it was near overflowing. He looked around for a moment before grabbing a second plate to place over the first, squishing the two together so that he wouldn't have to worry about losing anything as he followed Karene. With a quick step, he moved around Karene, set his plate down, and withdrew her chair. "Do you think we can steal their cook?" he asked, pushing her chair in as she sat and taking his own seat. He uncovered the plate in front of him and his mouth immediately began to water. "I need to make it to more Gathers," he said in a reverent voice before attacking the plate with both hands. Several purchases, races, and glasses of sweet wine later, Belisse let Sh'nar lead her to the banquet and dancing area. She would pick up her purchases the next day, leaving her hands free. Most importantly, it left the hand free that was clasped with his. Impulsively she gave it a light squeeze, smiling up at him from below long lashes. The day had been as close to perfect as possible, she thought dreamily. He'd listened to her so intently, and when he spoke she hung on his every word. After the first glass of chilled wine she had found the courage to place her hand on his upper arm while he bartered, letting it linger. The second had her occasionally bumping into him as they walked, and she had switched to juice. A lady should never be intoxicated in public, after all. She longed for Jeneveth to be awake, so she could share the amazing, heady feeling of being so close to Sh'nar, but the queen was sleeping peacefully curled up next to Cymrioth. "The food smells delicious," she said, pulling him gently towards the tables with a playful grin. "And if I'm to dance the night away with you I have to eat." Hand tightly wrapped around the smaller one of Tashin, Flynn scanned the area for familiar faces. Her brother was looking around excitedly, but not straining against her grip. He knew better than to distract his sister when she was 'working'. And though he didn't understand that she was checking for members of their former 'family' out of fear of retaliation, he knew her work face. The Igen guards wouldn't have let any Holdless in, she had been assured when she expressed her concerns. She swallowed convulsively, not wanting to think of what one loan man could do. They wouldn't kill her: they'd kill Tashin, and leave her alive. For a while at least. "Okay," she said finally, loosening her grip on his hand and letting him pull her toward the food. She couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm as he exclaimed over the food. Not that she could blame him... if it hadn't been for the amazing room earlier she would have been just as stunned. But the decadence seemed almost natural in comparison. Large eyes turned up to look at her, disbelief filling them. "How much can we eat?" Tashin whispered, trying not to attract the attention of anyone nearby. With the biggest smile she'd ever had, Flynn got two plates. "As much as you want," she told him, her heart constricting painfully at the joy that flooded his face. "Things are going to be different from now on, Tashin." She picked up two plates. "You pick us both out a plate full, and if we're still hungry afterwards we can get seconds." Both plates were piled full within moments. Most of the foods neither sibling had seen, and Tashin had decided they would simply try everything. Flynn was happy to oblige: the scents were simply amazing. "Let's take this table," she said, angling them for the closest empty table. The plates were heavier than she'd expected, and her mouth was watering so much that she worried she might faint before she could sit. | |

| Eolyn’s response was a flushing of her cheeks, though she remained quiet. Her eyes were on him half the time they were walking instead of on the ground before them. It was a wonder she didn’t fall. None could blame her for looking over her betrothed’s new attire. They matched perfectly. It pleased her that he would take the time to do so. Eolyn was glad not to have to sit next to her father for once. The young Lord, seated her and then struck up conversation with her very clever father. She did not know what to say. Her eyes had grown a bit wide, knowing what her mother would assume no matter how innocent the idea was. When Rihan had finished, it was her father’s turn to speak. Qisbon had to hold back a hearty laugh partly because he knew his wife did not see how anything about this was amusing. There would be gossip if the wedding was moved up. There was always gossip anyway. He took his time in answering the younger man mostly because it was fun to make him think about why he would reject the idea. The Lord, looked at his future son in law with an amused expression. “Our Eolyn is quite the beauty.” He explained to those gathered around, those who did not understand were not meant to. Despite her Turns of training, the girl was naieve and was unsure why her father would bring that particular trait to the forefront. He looked at his daughter then. “I cannot do anything without her say so. Darling will your gown be ready if we move the date up some?” “Dear Father, the weavers must be consulted but I’m sure for my Lord, they would finish more quickly.” She wanted to be married just as much as Rihan did, though she had not expected his urgency. It did not upset her. Actually she would love to be married sooner than later. Her reputation was not a concern for her. She knew none of it would matter once she was married. “Then I see no reason why it cannot be moved forward. “ Qisbon said, thanking the stars his daughter was as demure and pretty as she was. If she hadn’t have been, this would have been so much more awkward. “Now I hope you will both enjoy the dancing.” He didn’t add, and wear yourself out. Then he wouldn’t have to worry about anything happening. While all of this had been going on, the drudges had served them food and drink. Eolyn was not all that hungry and moved her food around on her plate more than ate it. She was much too excited and having already had an adrenaline filled day, she simply couldn’t eat. “Maybe if you asked nicely the cook would come…” She said in between mouthfuls. Karene was ravenous and as such was gobbling food down as fast as possible. Maybe she was eating to so quickly she would be able to fit more in before she was full? Probably not but she was going to attempt it. Luckily L’rue seemed completely interested in his food too. Now she could be quiet and not insult anyone. As if she would care really, but it did make things awkward. When she had eaten about half her plate she leaned back groaning. “Can’t eat any more.” She said, taking a sip of her wine and then downing the glass. Karene had no intention of acting like a lady. She was not at the main table for a reason, even though she had every right to sit there. Her eyes wandered over to the Harpers who were preparing to get the dancing underway. I looking at the Harpers her mind wandered to Andris. Hopefully he was able to get a ride here. She knew better than to bring him herself anyway so even if L’rue had expedited her leaving, she would not have been able to bring the Harper herself. “Hope the dancing starts soon.” That was when the fun would truly begin. The time between eating and dancing was probably supposed to be long enough to avoid having gorgers vomit on the dance floor. Karene had eat more than she should have but then she had not been anywhere near to finishing her food. Sadly this is what happened when one watched their food intake on a normal day. She didn’t keep a trim physique by eating like this all the time. If Galadrieth were paying any attention she would have told her rider not to over eat. Greed and gluttony were not good. (Sh'nar to be added tomorrow) | |

| Earlier that dayBrisca turned her head and smiled so hard it hurt, trying not to laugh. Little Kara's absolute delight was adorable. Especially when it meant she wasn't getting into trouble. But she was always on her best behavior when her papa came to visit. As one of only four people who knew the identity of Weyrwoman Karene's youngest she took great pleasure in watching how the young girl turned into a ray of sunshine when the man visited, and felt a little saddened that he couldn't come see his daughter openly. "You look beautiful," Weyrharper Andris said to his daughter, smiling so hard that his face hurt. He ran a hand through her usually red curls, though with the tint that Brisca and he had applied it was currently a deep, chestnut brown. The coloring would wash out within a sevenday, but it would last the day. He'd brought her a dress that was more in keeping with the style of a Harper's child... lots and lots of blue. She went perfectly with her father, he thought with a mental grin. He'd spent quite a bit of money on both outfits. "You know the drill, right?" "I'm your niece Andry from the Hall," she answered obediently, winking. This was all a big game to her, and that was fine with him. The more fun she had with it the less chance there was of them being discovered, and his ass being chewed thoroughly. Both Andris and Brisca stood up and back, looking at the girl critically for a moment. With the darkened hair and vivid blue colors making her already bright eyes even more incredible, unless closely observed the ruse would hold. The two adults smiled and shook hands. "I think even the Weyrwoman will have a hard time recognizing her," Brisca pronounced. "So I get to go?" little Kara asked, practically bouncing. "You get to go!" Andris answered, sweeping his daughter into his arms and kissing her perfect cheek soundly. CurrentlyAndris had been carrying 'Andry' on his shoulders for the past several hours, though he'd done it with a smile on his face. Any time spent with his daughter was time to be cherished. Karene would throw a fit, he knew, at the amount of gifts and treats he'd purchased for her. But he couldn't find it in himself to deny her anything, when she turned that tiny face up and begged her Uncle Andris, mischief glinting in her eyes at their play. They'd eaten together, close to the Harper dais. He'd been stashing purchases there all evening, trusting his fellow Harpers to protect them. Kara had babbled on non-stop, and he'd hung on every word with rapt fascination. Before long he knew everything that was happening in the creche, with her foster family (the newest one), and exactly how many bugs she had found in the past three days. If only Karene would openly acknowledge him, he thought wistfully as he watched her attack her dessert doublefisted. He respected her choices, of course, but these brief stolen moments with his daughter weren't enough. "Can we find mommy?" she suddenly asked, then looked around guiltily. He smiled, knowing that no one had heard them: he'd chosen this table on purpose, for it's seclusion and how close it was to the Harpers. No one had overhead. "I mean, I would like to meet the Weyrwoman, Uncle Andris," she corrected herself, a huge grin on her face. Standing up and offering her his hand with a flourish, Andris gave a delighted laugh. "That sounds simply delightful," he replied. "She should meet my lovely little niece... who knows, one day you might get to come to the Weyr and stay!" It didn't take long to find Karene: he knew her well enough to guess where she would have chosen to sit. Not at the High table, and with a clear view of the Harpers and dancing. She was with Wingleader L'rue, one of the less irritating bronzeriders of the Weyr. Little Kara's hand clutching his, he approached his secret lover with their daughter. "Weyrwoman Karene," he said, bowing deep from the waist. "I'd like to introduce you to my niece, Andry. Her parents let her spend the Gather with me." His eyes were twinkling when they met her's, not a bit of regret in them. He'd had a wonderful day with his daughter after all. "And this is Wingleader L'rue, Andry. He rides bronze Sebienth." "It's a pleasure to meet you," 'Andry' responded, curtsying and altering her voice slightly just like her father had taught her. She knew she couldn't trick her mother, and her eyes were just as bright as her father's. But L'rue... he might be tricked. The game was even more exciting now. "May we join you?" Andris asked the two, smiling as if everything were normal and fine. Inside he was bursting with pride. She was doing wonderfully. If only it wasn't practically a given that the girl would one day Impress a queen like her mother, she'd have made a wonderful Harper he thought. "Too much food," L'rue agreed with a groan, wondering if he could get away with loosening his belt just a bit. He hadn't meant to indulge so much but it had just been so, so delicious. "I'm going to have to let this settle before I can start scandalizing the holders for you," he said with a little bit of regret. He'd been looking forward to it. When Andris appeared he smiled warmly at the Harper. He liked the man. Jisalla raved about her lessons with him, and he little time he'd spent with him had proven that the Harper knew what he was doing. "Pull up a chair," he said amicably, before bowing his head deeply to Andry. "And it's quite a pleasure to meet you, Lady Andry. I trust your uncle has treated you to a wonderful Gather?" | |

| Another drink of his wine before Rihan set his goblet back to the table. His eyes were intently upon Lord Qisbon as the man addressed his request, enjoying the silent amusement they shared. “I cannot do anything without her say so. Darling will your gown be ready if we move the date up some?” True enough. Rihan's expectant gaze was upon Eolyn then, reaching for the utensils at his place setting to begin his meal. “Dear Father, the weavers must be consulted but I’m sure for my Lord, they would finish more quickly.” "Possessing such a sweet spirit as you have, I'm sure that if you were to ask them, the weavers wouldn't have the heart to turn down such an honest request." It was fondly that his eyes were on her still. It did please him that she seemed completely agreeable to being wed a little sooner. Then again, when Qisbon echoed Eolyn's acquiescence, he was dually pleased. Finishing a bite of his meal, Rihan spent a few breaths enjoying the savoury flavours of the meat on his plate before he met Qisbon with his own agreeable reply. “Now I hope you will both enjoy the dancing.”"I do enjoy dancing. I should say though, that I hope to enjoy dancing in all its forms -especially dancing in the company of Lady Eolyn." Again, Rihan proved shameless in his expression -but at least Qisbon could be assured, through his endless if not subtly suggestive remarks, that the young Lord Holder of Telgar was quite pleased with the marriage arrangements. Rihan knew it would be best to eat only a very little if they were going to be very energetic on the dance floor, but he still needed to replenish some of his energy from the day. So Rihan continued taking his time to eat, appreciating the magnificent flavours of each dish presented to them in at least a couple of bites before he set down his eating utensils, taking another drink of wine. Some dancers had already joined together on the dance floor as Harpers were playing through a nearly continuous stream of up-beat tunes. Supposing that he'd waited long enough to ask her, Rihan turned to speak quietly in invitation of Eolyn, "Are you ready to dance?" | |

| Sh’nar had thoroughly enjoyed the day as he had in a way impressed the young Goldrider. Certainly she would see how wonderful he was and become attached. Once that happened he might be able to have his voice heard more clearly in the Weyr, among his fellow Wing mates most especially. He was going to the top and no one was going to stop him. He denied himself time to ponder any and all thoughts about how Belisse could light up a room with her sweet, charming and gregarious personality. He was even a little drawn to her by this though of course he did not want to allow himself to be played. Sh’nar needed to have control or he would lose out. However he allowed her to lead him from one place to another until her shopping was done . They had both bought more than a few items. He’d secretly bought her something for her graduation as a gift. Part of his plan to win her over. No one would be able to tell her he was a bad person because he knew there were plenty of people who thought of him as a bad person. He was not mean, or cruel, he simply needed things to be done a certain way, his way. The roiling of his stomach at the smell of food was enough for him to agree to follow her to the feast. Food would certainly be welcome after all the walking and bartering they had done. He laughed at her giddiness. She was so happy. He liked to think he had something to do with that although he was pretty certain that was partly her personality in general. It was amazing how different she was from Karene. He could almost feel bad for using her position for his own gain, almost. He filled up his plate and although he had spotted Karene and L’rue, decided not to sit with them. They would not make for good company right now. It would be better to mingle with the Holders and Crafters while they could get away with it. When they settled on a table, he pulled the chair out for Belisse and slid it under her. “It will be nice to dance. I have not in a long time.” Not since his own Graduation although there were plenty of occasions for it. “It has to be about two Turns. Not because I don’t enjoy it, simply because being a Harper, I was asked to help with the music for the evenings where we had special occasions.” He conversed casually between eating his food. Unlike some of the others who were eating voraciously as if the food would run off their plates, he ate slowly, enjoying his food. “They have an amazing cook. Have you ever tasted anything so wonderful?” Then the Holders often kept the best harvested foods for themselves though they should go to the Weyr. Karene would do better to watch what was coming in to the Weyr, he thought sourly. Karene laughed at L’rue. “Oh don’t worry the more risque dances won’t happen till later in the evening. It’ll be so much more scandalous then.” If she seemed happy before, it paled in comparison to the look she gave the Harper as he approached. The look was fleeting because she did try hard to keep her relationship from being public. However there was no doubt she was in love with the man approaching the table. Her eyes left him to observe the child in his care although they had temporarily changed her hair, Karene knew her own daughter through the disguise. Smiling warmly at the young girl, “Andry, it is a greater pleasure to meet you. Your uncle loves you so dearly, he speaks of you often.” After L’rue invited them both to join them, she was feeling a bit horrible for not being with the other two all day. She enjoyed L’rue’s company but it would have been a much better day had she spent it with the people who loved her. “L’rue and I were discussing how we were going to get the Holder’s riled up. My niece is plenty old enough to dance with Bronzeriders and be swept off to the Weyr.” Her own eyes were mischievous then. Anything to upset her brother would make her quite happy. “Now you won’t have to dance with me the entire evening L’rue because if I recall correctly, the Weyrharper owes me a few dances.” From like every event the Weyr had. He was always busy performing on important occasions. Including the young girl in her conversation, “Are you enjoying the Gather, Andry? I hope your uncle didn’t spoil you too much.” The young Lady smiled at her fiance. "Maybe so but father has monetary ways of persuading them to move faster. All I have are words and kindness. That usually is not enough." She shrugged. Women were never in control of finances so though she understood how arithmetic worked she was not able to carry marks on her at all times. Only for Gathers as a gift from her father. She continued to play with her food rather than eat it until she put her fork down. His words went over her head but not her father's who chuckled in good humor. He trusted his daughter not to allow anything inappropriate before the wedding, especially now that it would not be long to wait. However, he knew how lustful young men could be and would keep a very close watch on his daughter's betrothed for his entire stay at Igen. The harper's began to play some up beat music while some couples began to dance. She enjoyed watching dancers but much preferred to be out there on the floor. Tonight she wouldn't have to dance with different lords all night long. Tonight she could insist on only dancing with Rihan. He was her betrothed and he had the right to keep her by him all evening. When he asked her, her blue eyes widened with excitement. "Yes." She got up out of her chair, using his hand to help her. Her stomach fluttered and she felt her breath catch in her throat. Karene's niece, Sulara was already thinking about dancing as she finished her small plate of food. The quiet girl, was hoping one of the Lords or other would ask her to dance. She did not have to wait long before someone was asking her. Sulara paid little attention to the person as she was whisked off. Tonight she wore a pale blue gown with silver trimming. The gown had an empire waist, allowing the fabric to flow down to the floor. The gown had long fitted sleeves with two buttons on the end of each sleeve. It did nothing really for her figure, not that she had much of one to speak of. Her father often made the remark that she should eat more. Her hair was up in a beautiful loose bun, with strands of the hair coming loose, all curled for the event. The dances thus far had been fast paced so she hoped that the man she had followed knew how to dance well. As the Harpers began to play the song, she consoled herself with the fact that if this dance went badly she would be able to find another partner in no time. | |

| Kazage had made his entrance to the Gather rather late in the day, remaining inconspicuous amoungst the crowds. He wore no sword at present and his ring was not visible, but other than that, his garb was relatively the same as on any other day. Considering that he kept a tidy appearance, he should fit right in, even if seeming a bit under dressed for the occasion perhaps. As gather goers herded themselves to tables and chairs, filling their plates and eating voraciously, the Exile had been observing from overshadowed sidelines. Of particular interest to him was where the Lords and Ladies had all seated themselves. Looking on with a whit of jealousy, it was short lived on him as he began to focus on his goal at hand. Soon, he began to understand the relationships to one another of those he observed, by their behaviour. To pick one of them out whom he'd never seen before would be a testament to his skills in observation to be sure -and that's just what he needed to do. Kazage needed to find the daughter of one of the Holders. A girl by the name of Sulara. Of course he might just as well have asked, but there was no need drawing any suspicion to himself by asking when there was no promise that those he asked would know anyway. He'd rather avoid it. Saying that Kazage'd done his homework on the Southern Boll Holding Family was perhaps an understatement. The Exile had sent his eyes and ears out to confirm that Sulara was the most suitable mate for him, given his age and assumed rank. So it was confirmed and he'd found out as much as he could about she and her family before attending the gather, where he knew he would be able to get closer to her. Kazage had a suitable memory for details such as names and faces. He'd seen the Sulara's parents before in paintings, though they were turns-old-paintings now, the resemblance was still there. So it was that Kazage waited until an opening presented itself, and then made his move. The girl had barely stepped away from her seat when the too graceful waltz of low booted feet brought Kazage beside her; her hand was within his then, and she was being swept onto the dance floor, with hardly a chance to object. The pair quickly disappeared into the throngs of other dancers. "At last we meet, Sulara. I've been eagerly awaiting a chance to speak with you. It's just too bad that our meeting had to be like this, with far too many people about."Not excited about dancing because the entire affair was too loud and obnoxious to him, Kazage only led them through relatively simple steps, though not entirely introductory as far as dance was concerned. He wasn't going to make a fool of himself, but his purpose for leading her here was so that they could talk, not dance. And this was probably as 'alone' as they would get..for now. ------------------------------------------------------------ (haha sorry had to throw this pic out there bc he's gonna get all lusty on her here. buahahaha. Gotta make her blush.) Eolyn's small hand clasped in his, Rihan bowed politely to excuse them from the dinner table before leading his fiance to the dance square. Another song had just begun, and when they swept onto the dance floor, the nearest couples made room for them. Rihan's hands led Eolyn through a moderately technical set of dance steps; it was fast paced, so it would be good to warm up before throwing themselves at the more difficult dances. He was sensitive to how comfortable she was with dancing, appreciating that she seemed to have a good sense of rhythm and was doing well enough to follow his lead. After getting a feel for his fiance's dancing ability during the first dance, Rihan more assuredly drew them into the next energetic set. It was obvious by the more difficult steps he led them through now, that he was going to enjoy himself and give Eolyn's stamina a challenge. Through the fast-paced dance, his hands never left her; even when he led her into a rapid twirl or the dance steps set them apart from one another, his fingertips were always there as a guide. When instruments crescendoed in a dramatic opening to the next song, Rihan drew Eolyn's body against his so closely that she could have danced right onto the toes of his boots. Beads of perspiration had begun to roll down his temple and his chest must have felt very warm. He was not out of breath yet, but it was with the heat of passion that he said to her in whispers, "Give me your desire and strength, your heart and your body, you who is most important to me." It wasn't just about the dance he was speaking, but this one would certainly require her trust in him. Earlier in the day she'd assured him that she was going to belong to him body and soul, whole heartedly, so he was affirming that. "Entrust yourself completely to me." Before she had time to answer, he spun her to the side, lowering her into a dip; but again, it was never without the strength of loving hands to fully support her. Impassioned notes infused the evening air with magnificent sensual ardor. Expertly, he lead his fiance through a series of twists and dips, altering his footwork as necessary depending on how comfortable she was in executing certain dance steps. Suddenly her body was against him again, his eyes so fixated on her that she might as well have been naked before him, and as he drew her close, it might have left one wondering if he was drawing her in for a kiss. But no. He pulled her up to him, stopping just short of doing so, and then set her back on her toes to prepare for some aerial spins. It was one of the most difficult dances to perform with a partner, as this set in particular worked up to some very crafty footwork and aerial spins. The two of them could pull it off though, Rihan was confident. | |

| She walked unknowingly with the man whom she assumed was a Holder’s son of some kind. However when he spoke she knew she had never met nor seen him before now. That would be odd of course because her mother was throwing her at every eligible bachelor on Pern. She was a bit upset that eolyn had stolen the most eligble bachelor on Pern, however she could make it all up to her father by marrying very well herself. The stranger was quite forward, a little too forward for the shy young woman. “You have?” She asked kind of put off by the fact that he sounded like a stalker more than a suitor. “Why should we meet privately? I do not know you.” The young woman had a strong set of morals (more the reason for Karene to corrupt her) and would never dream of being alone with a man she was not married to. She was not an adventurous dancer herself, although she enjoyed it. Now though she was much too curious about this man to think much about the music or the dance. “Come to think of it, you have not mentioned who you are or how you know me…” No one could possibly be happier than she was right now. Eolyn allowed her betrothed to lead her through the dances, trusting fully his choices. And unlike some other ladies, she was not afraid to try more complicated dances. As they danced, Eolyn realized she had never been challenged so much by a dance partner. She was up to the task though and felt her graceful body move when he willed it to. She was small enough that making quick turns, being spun and lifted were done more easily. After the second dance, when the third one began and he pulled her to him, she forgot where she was. She forgot they were not yet married and that this dance would certainly not be appropriate for her to be doing. If she had been paying attention to anyone other than her fiancé, she might have heard her mother’s gasp. Eolyn moved well in her gown, allowing herself to move freely with the music under Rihan’s guide. She loved to dance and began to come more out of her shell with every dance so by the time the third one came along, she was ready to do everything the song required. The tension in her body, along with the emotions going through her made the dance seem more passionate. She could feel herself growing hotter with every step. The whisper from Rihan made her blush though one would never be able to tell because her cheeks were so pink already from exertion. She whispered back to him when they were close together once more, “All of these things are yours.” As the dance pulled them away again, she felt her body bend this way and that. No she had never danced this way before and certainly never with such passion. Her eyes never left Rihan’s unless they had to and only for the briefest of moments. She was pulled back into his chest, feeling as though the air would come right out of her. “I trust you.”In every possible way, she trusted him though she thought she had reassured him of it all earlier perhaps he was worried she would change her mind. Eolyn was not a flighty young woman. She certainly never expected herself to act the way she was. Circumstances as they were, she figured it was perfectly natural to want to be so in love with the man she was going to marry that nothing else should matter to her. No matter how she went over things in her head though, she could not deny that she had fallen in love with him the moment she saw him when she had no idea who he was. It wasn’t as if she took random men by the hand all the time. And maybe he had no clue how odd her behavior had been the entire day because he did not know her. Well her nature was not so changeable. She was committed to him body and soul and she would not go back on what she had said to him earlier. Even as he lifted her into the air, she was fearless. He would never do anything to hurt her only to protect her. When she came out of the lifts and was back into his arms, “Do you not trust my words?” She wasn’t accusatory, quite the opposite, she was concerned that he did not know her character well enough to trust her entirely. She had not been proper most of the day. The concern in her voice was clearly about her own behavior and not his own. | |

| It pleased him that the young lady had a sense of propriety about her, so it was when she questioned why should would ever be alone with a man she did not know, he regarded her with the arch of that right brow, "Hmmm?" His expression was untelling, but he was moderately amused to know that he'd startled her by his forward approach. That obviously didn't concern him however, as he pinned her with a penetrating gaze and continued in the depths of a sultry, if not assuming tone of voice. Of course, his entire demeanor must have seemed very assuming over the girl at that point. "I am Kazage, a descendant of Telgar's Holding Family. I know you only by your good name's reputation; That is why I had to meet you."The smirk he gave her then was entirely rare. One hand came to rest under her chin gingerly as he slowed their dance to a sway. "Only somone of exceptional beauty and appropriate character and breeding will make a suitable mate. You are very beautiful -beautiful enough to marry me."Well at least his words were not unkind or...inappropriate necessarily. ------------------------------------------------------- RIHAN
Rihan's expression on Eolyn was only filled with passion as Eolyn reassured him of her complete devotion. As much as he could help it, his eyes never left her own, several times after that, swinging her out and then drawing her close enough again that they could have kissed. Their entire dance must have been thrilling to watch, the way they moved in perfect syncipation together; their bodies moved as one. It was certainly exciting for Rihan. Fast or slow dance, it didn't seem to matter, he was exhillarated. The song reached its coda, and Rihan dipped Eolyn nearly to the floor again.. once, twice, thrice, suspending her slight body in the air until the sound of harper's notes faded. Bringing her upright again, he swallowed hard against the passion still roused within him. A hand went to his belt where he procured the use of a kerchief to blot around Eolyn's face and neck where she seemed to be melting as much as he was. As they stood amidst the dancers there, who'd begun in another song, he was just as much taking that time to appreciate how pretty Eolyn was as to let them catch their breath. His touch with the kerchief was slow, almost cautioned with each dab against her skin -perhaps it was simply an excuse to touch her. Gradually, a smile curled up at the corners of his mouth, that amused expression rising even to his eyes. "Enough for now. A drink?" Gesturing that they should leave from the dance floor, his arm was offered to her.

| Lancelle for all intents and purposes, disliked Gathers. There were too many people. Bartering was a waste of time to her and she would really rather be spending time practicing so she and Raidenth would be able to Graduate with the others in her class. She didn’t want to disappoint the others though and ended up meeting them at the designated place at the designated time. They arrived to find that Belisse had gone ahead without them. Muttering under her breath, “She better not be with Sh’nar. How many times do we have to warn her about that asshole.” Raidenth’s soothing voice, calmed her rider down significantly. Today she was not wearing her traditional leathers or pants of any kind. It was like being pulled back to before she Impressed when she only wore dresses. The gown was plain but well-made and in the unluckiest color on Pern, green. It was a deep emerald color green with cap sleeves and an empire waistline. The dress flowed out from just under her small breasts, creating an easy movement to the gown. Lovingly Raidenth had commented to her rider on her look before they had left. Now they were here. Raidenth left to sun on the heights with the other dragons. Lancelle felt completely out of place. She was a bit irritated that Belisse had left without them still. Her negativity would be hard to fight today. Even as she heard the others talking and laughing, she could not quite join in. she spent most of her time fidgeting with her gown. Her stomach agreed with the others when they mentioned the feasting. She had followed the suit of many of the other rider’s there and filled her plate with whatever she thought she could eat only to find she could barely fit any of it in her small stomach. She looked for Belisse before sitting down but to no avail. The crowds at this point made it nearly impossible to find anyone not on the dance floor. As the Harpers began to play, the others went off to dance. Lancelle was alone. She hated that she felt neglected because there were no people around that she could talk to. Not that anyone really listened to her anyway, other than Raidenth. She was not sure she wanted to dance anyway. That was why she was alone. Everyone else was happy to dance, whereas she was reluctant. She scanned the dancers to find Belisse but could not. Lance was concerned for the young woman’s safety, especially if she was with whom she suspected she was. Sh’nar could not be trusted. | |

| N'kyr wasn't exactly happy about being at the Gather. Then again, he never was-- parties were usually complete wastes of time. There was no real point to stuffing one's self silly, or dancing, or runner racing, or making smalltalk with whoever was closest. No real work or anything else of value got done, unless, he supposed, one counted purchasing new gear or necessary clothing. He'd much prefer spending the same amount of time studying his notes, working on some new formation ideas, or taking care of Ramirath.
So why, then, was he at Igen? Because he'd basically been ordered to go by the Weyrwoman. And his wingleader. His former classmates had, as usual, managed to get them all in trouble, all for the sake of fun, and Karene had taken exception to the other bronzerider's seeming lack of repentance. She'd then ordered the two of them to attend the Gather and be on their best behavior-- she expected more of her bronzeriders and they had to go to properly represent the Weyr. Any potential leader also needed to learn to deal with the duties involved, like exchanging pleasantries with Holders. N'kyr, of course, new this, given he was Holder-bred, and all, right? Which should make him a good example for his supposed 'friend' to follow.
The young bronzerider had, of course, heard it all before. Many times, in fact, given his former classmates' penchant for finding trouble. Clearly, it hadn't changed the other bronzerider's behavior any. Or some things were just too difficult to resist.
Or something.
N'kyr was just annoyed that it had landed them at the Gather-- although his wingleader had also ordered them to go. Or at least L'rue had ordered him to go. Said it would be good for him to get out and mingle and have a good time.
It was a dumb excuse, if N'kyr had ever heard one.
But here he was, having done nothing more than wander, really, nothing more than tag along with his supposed 'friend.' Besides greeting the Gather's hosts and family-- he was Holder-bred after all, and duty was drilled into him-- anyway. He'd managed to find something small for his mother-- a brooch of intricately worked silver-- while he and the other bronzerider from his class were roaming the vending stalls. He'd purchased something to snack on, and a mug of ale. But nothing else.
And now he was stuck sitting around by himself, seeing as his former classmate was off gallivanting with some girl he'd spotted near the dance floor. With his plate left half-finished on the table, since girls were apparently more important than food.
N'kyr didn't quite agree-- most of the ones he'd met were fluffy fashionistas who cared about nothing more than gossiping and who was wearing the best dress and where they could get one. At least here, as a bronzerider, he wasn't necessarily expected to dance with all of the eligible young ladies like he'd been asked to do at Crom before he Impressed, and didn't have to put up with such foolishness.
Maybe he could just get away with leaving, now that most of the day was over? Then again, maybe not. He wasn't all that far from where the Weyrwoman and his wingleader sat, and knowing his luck, at least one of them would spot him.
It was really just too bad his notes were back in the pack on Ramirath's harness. Maybe he'd go find himself another drink. | |

| "I feel bad that you haven't been able to enjoy dancing, but I have to admit to admiring you while you were playing," she admittedly, a little shyly. Her cheeks pinkened but she made herself smile through it. "I can sing and play a little lap harp... nothing as intensive as what Harpers go through, of course," she rushed to assure him, not wanting to offend. "Just enough to make me marriage material, as my mother would put it." She laughed again, light and tinkling, no nervousness or self consciousness in it. "And then Jeneveth happened and ruined all her plans for me." Her smile was radiant, and her gaze turned inwards as she touched the sleeping queen gently. She gave her head a shake, laughing gently. "I'm sorry, I'm going on. Do we ever get to the point where we aren't expecting to wake up and have been dreaming this entire time?" Every day, especially since moving into her weyrwoman's weyr, she sprang out of bed and ran to Jeneveth and hugged her, just relishing in the fact that her dragon was real. "You'd be surprised at the foods I've had," she admitted after a few bites. "Though this is quite delicious. When I was being courted officially, every suitor brought what his land was known for. Some were better than others." She wrinkled her nose and gave a bit of a shudder, remembering a certain larger holder from Nabol. "The Benden suitors put my father in stock for the next twenty Turns, though," she said, eyes sparkling over the brim of her glass. That she had Impressed instead of marrying made no difference: her father had of course kept all of the gifts, to both her amusement and horror. But she wasn't a Holder anymore, she was Weyrfolk. What went on in the minor holds didn't matter to her anymore. She stopped speaking again, now wondering if she sounded like she was bragging. Speaking to him was difficult... she felt flustered, tongue tied, and so self conscious. Her hand went up to her hair, which had a tendency to go frizzy, just to make sure that the curls had stayed. "I'm having a lovely time, Weyrwoman Karene," 'Andry' said carefully, curtsying prettily for her mother. "Uncle Andris got me lots of toys and dresses," she continued, grinning like a fool. L'rue looked between the three, a puzzled expression on his face, before it cleared suddenly and he coughed. "Lady Andry," he said, standing and giving a sweeping bow to the little girl. "Would you honor me with a dance?" He held his hand out with a smile, nodding to Karene and Andris as he took the little girl off. Let them have some alone time, he thought, a bemused smile on his face. "My niece will be incredibly disappointed, that someone so close to her age got to come to the Gather when I left her at home," he said, glancing down at Kara with a knowing smile. "Maybe you can tell her about it." "Maybe," Kara giggled, now in the lead and hauling the Wingleader behind her. He laughed and put up a playful fight, though he was of course letting her win, when he caught sight of their youngest goldrider practically draped across Sh'nar. He gave a grunt of annoyance, and tweaked 'Andry's' nose lightly. "Just a moment dear one," he said, looking around the area quickly. Ah, perfect, he thought, seeing one of his younger bronzeriders in the crowd. "Quick detour," he announced, kneeling down so Kara could jump on his back. It took her a moment, but she did, then giggled madly while the pair hurried through the crowd. L'rue stopped in front of N'kyr, a bright smile on his face. "Enjoying the Gather, I hope," he asked his wingrider, not mentioning the giggling clump of child clinging to his back. "If you get a chance, swing by and ask Belisse to dance would you? She's been with Sh'nar all day." He didn't say anything aloud, just gave the younger bronzerider a meaningful look. N'kyr had a lot of potential, and a lot less irritating traits than Sh'nar, and if one of the younger Fort bronzes was going to fly the junior queen he'd prefer it to be someone bearable. Watching his daughter disappear with the laughing bronzerider, Andris felt the tension drain from him. L'rue had recognized her, but from his actions and words so far he was going to play along. And little Karene was happy enough, not to mention it gave him just a little of time alone with... Her. He turned to her and bowed low over her hand, taking it and giving it a tender kiss. "Weyrwoman," he murmured, smile gentle and loving now that they were alone. These moments never lasted long before they were interrupted, all the more reason to treasure them. He slipped into L'rue's vacated chair, resisting the urge to lean across and just kiss her outright. But there were far too many people, too many wagging tongues. "I hope you don't mind," he said in a lower voice, chuckling. "I couldn't resist the chance to spend the day with her." It wasn't accusatory: he understood and respected her reasons for keeping their relationship secret, and sadly that meant not being able to publicly acknowledge his daughter. Days like these were the only time he could get away with seeing her for an extended period without raising questions. "And I hope you've saved at least one dance for me?" | |

| “Now I get to make up for lost time.” He said smoothly. Cymrioth would be proud. He needed to come off as less arrogant so he thought of what he could respond without making it sound like he was trying too hard to be humble. “You are being kind. I’ve never been one of the more talented harpers at the Weyr and certainly not at the Hall.” He could write a song but he wasn’t all that great with instruments. He could sing though. He had a lovely singing voice. “Maybe I could hear you play sometime? I promise not to judge.” He thought perhaps since she had been so modest and humble all day she was being so now. She probably played quite well. Her life as a Holder was interesting to him. Most parents would refuse to allow their daughters to be Searched or would have warned them about the Weyr’s lewd lifestyle. Sh’nar was Harper bred so it wasn’t as if he was allowed to court Holder’s daughters. She was born to higher rank and had only gone higher… much like Karene. Yet their attitudes were completely opposite. He’d rather spend Turns in Belisse’s company than spend five minutes with Karene. She was pliable, easier to manipulate at some point, Karene was much too worldly and had learned her lessons when it came to Bronzeriders. “Eventually, you won’t remember what life was like without them. You won’t want to. I know I can’t really remember how I was without Cymrioth. He has fully become an extension of myself and vice versa. However I will say the bond is slightly different for everyone. I got over the shock of impression pretty quickly. For you it might take longer because how many women Impress Gold dragons? How many women were at the Hatching watching a minor Holder’s daughter Impress over the other Candidates, many of whom with weyr blood? It might be that you don’t believe it fully yet because to you, you don’t believe you should have Impressed. I can tell you right now that would be selling yourself short Belisse. You have so much to offer the Weyr. Jeneveth is giving you the chance to be a great leader. All you need to do is believe that you were meant to be Jeneveth’s rider and you will see that this isn’t a dream. This is what you were born to do.” And he had every intention of helping her achieve her goals as well as some of his own. He was amused, not put off that she had had so many suitors. None of them had won her. He was going to be the suitor who won her over and none of those holders were ever going to be able to touch her. As for other Bronzeriders…well… he would behave himself but he would not particularly care for them trying to steal what should be his. “Shall I bring you something from the Harper Hall then?” He said as more of a joke but he should bring her something. “I’m afraid we are not known for our food which may influence your decision.” It was customary to give women gifts on special occasions. He did need to buy her something for Graduation although he might have a better idea. He could write her a song for her harp. Nothing too complex of course and he could have the Master Harper look it over and have them play it for Graduation. Hmm yes, that could work. He could buy her a gift too but that would be much more personal. While he was quiet he was eating his food and sipping at a glass of wine. He was not one to overdo it on the drinking. He thought drunks were pathetic for allowing themselves to lose complete control of themselves. When he finished, “Belisse, do you want to find your friends before the dancing starts? I’m sure they’ve missed your company today.” And that was him being sneaky. Be nice about her friends and try to be thoughtful of her wishes. Eventually her friends were going to push her into his arms because no one liked him and he was being so completely kind to Belisse she would never believe for a second he was after her for her title and power. No sooner were the words out of his mouth when he saw N'kyr approaching the table. Sh'nar didn't hate N'kyr but he felt the other Bronzerider was given titles because he was a favorite of L'rue's and not because he was better than anyone else. He was probably Sh'nar's biggest competition for the Junior Weyrwoman although she might not know it yet. N'kyr was not known to have great people skills although he was good at strategy and wing formations. Karene smiled at her daughter, “I’m glad you are having fun.” She said and watched as L’rue offered to steal the child. She had brought him here to get him away from his niece and now he was dancing with a child again. Some things could not be helped and it was nice to have Andris to herself for a few moments at least. She spoke quietly so that no one would be able to hear her above the chatter and music. His kiss on her hand was a reminder of the things they couldn’t do here and although it was her own fault for being stubborn on the matter of keeping things between them a secret her reasons were not really unfounded. The Bronzeriders were the main reason. Not only would they be angry with her but they would take out their anger on her lover. Then there were flights to consider. The Weyrleader needed to trust her and although she never really cared for any of the men who became leader, she did her best to work with them. In short her job required her to be with a Bronzerider but her heart required her not to. Sadly it had been a while since she had been able to spend time with Andris herself. With Weyrling Graduation coming up she had to spend more time training Belisse and worrying over the young woman’s first flight. Like Karene, Belisse was Holder bred and she didn’t want the girl to be unprepared for what would happen. The first time could be nerve racking and she might lose control of Jeneveth if she wasn’t careful. To say she was training Bel to be her junior would be a lie. Karene had plans for the young woman. And those plans involved Igen Weyr. Shutting work out of her mind, she shook her head a slightly, “I’m sorry, I’ve just been thinking of all the reasons we have not seen each other of late. I’ve missed you more than I first realized.” Karene would have loved to take him somewhere anywhere from here so they could be alone together. However she had to be here, just like the other riders she had forced to come. Smiling, “I know. I wish things could be different.” Her smile was a bit wistful, “I’m glad you did spend some time with her. Maybe you could rub your personality off on her a little, I wish she would act more like you.” It would mean less trouble for Karene. “I don’t know what I’m going to do if she gets herself in trouble with another foster family.” It was hitting the Weyrwoman how much guilt she felt for not being able to raise her children herself. When she first had Emerene the Creche staff were concerned that she kept the baby with her too long. Well past when she was done breast feeding and it seemed to follow that she kept each of her children till she could not carry them on her hip any longer. She loved them despite the rumors of her being a very cold person. And she would admit she could be cold, cruel even raging mad sometimes but she cared very deeply for all of her children. A sad sigh escaped her, “I wish I could take care of her myself. She has made it quite clear to the Headwoman that is what she wants.” Some days she thought about her Hold life, knowing that she would have had to marry that ugly Holder, she still would have had a more normal life. Returning to more happy thoughts, “Oh I think my dance schedule just became wide open.” She said playfully. “I hope you weren’t planning on dancing with many other women.” Or any for that matter, she thought. He was so handsome, charming, intelligent it would not surprise her if there were women who would attempt to dance with him. “I did promise L’rue a dance too.” She said, thankful, not for the first time, Andris was not a particularly jealous sort. She allowed herself to move and be free with him. When brought in close to him, she could feel the heat coming not only from her own body but his as well. Her eyes met his and stayed there the entire dance. This sort of dancing was never approved by her mother but the woman hardly had any control over her right now. Even if Eolyn knew herself to be a good daughter, she was certain the dancing would cast doubt in her mother’s mind. The young lady was not in any way regretting what she was doing now. Dancing so vibrantly only made her more certain that she and Rihan were meant to be together. When the song ended and he began to dab the sweat off of her, she let herself catch her breath. “I had no idea how talented you were Rihan.” The words were breathy, soft because she was still slightly out of breath. Every time he dabbed her with the kerchief, she felt her body tremble on the inside. As aroused as her body had become, she did a good job of hiding it from her betrothed. Her breathing was quickly under control now. When he offered his arm, she gently slid her arm into his. “A drink would be lovely.” It was time to cool off, talk to one another and hopefully keep themselves from getting into trouble. Eolyn didn’t think she had smiled so much in a long time. She was a generally happy person but right now she was beaming with giddiness. Rihan was everything she had ever hoped for in a husband. Although her father had promised she would be happy with whom he had chosen for her, she had had her doubts. She should not have. He would never have parted with her for anyone less perfect than Rihan was for her. She never once let her eyes fall on anyone but her betrothed. Eolyn brushed a couple of the strands of hair which had come free from her hair piece during the dancing with her other hand. “I don’t know what I’ll do without you here till the wedding.” She said, considering how dull her life would be without him. She stared at him with an incredulous air. Shaking her head, “I see you’ve been researching Hold families and found I’m the most suitable.” Sulara tried not to laugh in his face, really really hard. He was lucky he had never met her aunt when she was courting, “My father is the only one who will be deciding whom I marry.” She said back to him by way of not rejecting or accepting what he was saying. If he wanted to marry her, she was not in a position to decide. “This conversation shouldn’t even be happening.” She said in a strong tone. “I’ve never heard mention of you by anyone in the Telgar lineage although you bear some small resemblance.” Kazage was not a name she had ever heard before. Still he was not being completely inappropriate so she would allow him to continue to think he stood a chance with her. Sulara knew he most likely did not. There were people in her family who hated her father but he was the heir and that made her marriage quite important. Sulara wasn’t going to be bullied into marriage because she was pretty either. “And I seriously doubt my father is in any mood to hear of a proposal from you.” He’d been drinking and had been drinking deeply since her aunt had appeared. “My aunt always puts my father in the worst of moods, you see.” She added, trying not to insult the man. He wanted to court her after all, though she could not truly fathom why. If he were descended from Telgar Lords he should have no trouble finding young women to entertain and find a good match among them.

| N'kyr nodded in greeting to his wingleader when L'rue approached. He frowned slightly as he glanced at Andry for a moment, wondering briefly just what the older bronzerider was doing with the little girl.
And then why L'rue couldn't dance with Belisse, himself. Surely catering to a goldrider was more important than hauling around a child who wasn't his? (At least N'kyr was pretty sure Andry wasn't his wingleader's daughter-- he wasn't completely up on the personal lives of his wingmates, after all.) Especially when it sounded like the only reason N'kyr should dance with her was to get her away from another bronzerider. And do his duty, of course. But he didn't see L'rue jumping on that particular task, either, did he?
You should dance with her. Jeneveth is nice.
N'kyr frowned at Ramirath's drowsy encouragement. It wasn't necessarily saying much that the gold was nice, considering there were hardly any dragons the bronze didn't get along with. Plus he was far too trusting. You think everyone is nice.
Better than thinking they are all not nice.
The young bronzerider's frown deepened further and his eyes narrowed slightly in response to his dragon's slightly snotty tone. But he didn't say anything. He knew well just how mean others could be, and for no other reason than they needed someone to pick on. Ramirath had never had to put up with that, and never would, since dragons just didn't think the same way as humans in that regard. The bronze just didn't understand why N'kyr trusted so few people and shunned most human interaction.
You should dance, anyway. It is supposed to be fun. You need to have some fun. So you are less grumpy.
This time, N'kyr rolled his eyes.
Maybe if you dance with her here, now, she'll dance with you without your clothes on later, like--
Rath!
Well, they all say their riders have fun doing it, and you need some fun, so--
N'kyr tuned him out, hoping the flush in his cheeks wasn't obvious. If his mug hadn't been empty, he'd have downed the last of it in one gulp.
It wasn't like he wanted Belisse like that, right? Sure, she was a goldrider, and easy enough on the eyes, but she was holder-bred, and he knew how holder-bred girls were. No, he didn't know her well, but from what he'd heard he was pretty sure she was just the same.
Still, Ramirath wasn't going to shut up about any of it until he went over and asked her to dance. More than likely, he'd sic his bronze brother's rider on N'kyr and then said rider would drag him over and ask Belisse to dance for him. Which would only end in horrible embarrassment for N'kyr, himself.
Better to get it over with sooner rather than later.
Leaving his own empty plate with his former classmate's on the table, N'kyr stood and straightened his vest and tunic. His pale hair had come slightly loose from the leather thong that held it back, leaving a few shorter strands to fall forward, but he left it as it was.
Approaching the table where Belisse and Sh'nar sat, he squared his shoulders and nodded formally to Belisse, just the way his mother had instructed him, then gave a smaller one to Sh'nar. "Good evening, Goldrider. Bronzerider. I trust you have enjoyed yourselves here at Igen." Not that it was in any way his responsibility-- this wasn't his home Hold. But he had to say something, and smalltalk was not his specialty. | |

| Of course they were meant to be together; Rihan was enjoying himself with Eolyn thoroughly, and always wanted to believe that he would never accept anything other than the best from life -his woman included. He was becoming more and more certain that the sweet daughter of Igen was nothing but that. “I had no idea how talented you were Rihan."The remark turned his expression a bit wry as he re-folded the kerchief, tucking it under his wide belt before the arm was offered to her. "You overestimate me, Lady Eolyn. It is your grace that lends beautiful perfection to our dance."With that, he was leading her from the arena of dancers where they could be seated again at the dinner table. “I don’t know what I’ll do without you here till the wedding.” The young lord's smirk was extant, "The wedding date will be here before you know it. You'll be too busy planning things to notice my absence. In any case, I'll be here for another day, until the gather is come to a close." Rihan cupped his hand gently over the place where her own had taken hold of his arm as they walked. Eolyn's chair was pulled out for her before Rihan sat, highly welcoming of another glass of wine and food by the time a server arrived. Wetting a parched throat with his refilled glass before leaning a little closer to speak to his fiance more privately, Rihan decided to converse more casually with her for once. "Lady Eolyn, how are your preparations coming for the wedding? Have the weavers started on your dress? And what flowers have you picked for the occasion? I suspect you must be both nervous and excited." He was peering over the rim of his glass at her with another sip of wine. ===================================================================================== “My father is the only one who will be deciding whom I marry.” She said back to him by way of not rejecting or accepting what he was saying. If he wanted to marry her, she was not in a position to decide. “This conversation shouldn't even be happening.” "I think you misunderstand. I am not asking your permission, and I did not come here tonight to take what I want from your father." The lightly amused expression he wore then, turned a bit more pleased at the mention, "Tonight, everyone celebrates the engagement of another Lord of Telgar. It would be unfortunate if we were to take the focus away from the happy couple." He was of course referring to Lord Rihan and Lady Eolyn. “I’ve never heard mention of you by anyone in the Telgar lineage although you bear some small resemblance.”... “My aunt always puts my father in the worst of moods, you see.” "Is that so?" The man's head tilted aside ever so slightly in consideration over her comment about her father's moods. "If you are right, then I would much prefer to stay in your company instead. I had not planned on speaking with him tonight anyway."It hardly mattered to Kazage whether or not Sulara thought he looked the part of a Telgar Holder, and he was certainly not shy about continuing to fill her in on further details. For an Exile, he seemed to bear no shame at all. Kazage leaned ever so slightly forward toward her, as if he would whisper, only his voice never lowered; though, he did set his hand beneath her chin to keep her head tilted in his direction, making sure that their eyes met. "Why don't I tell you a little secret, dear one -a secret of Telgar that has been buried and almost forgotten; Long ago, the Heir of Telgar Hold was wrongly accused of a crime and sent into Exile. Living his life out in secretive places, he was never able to see his influence restored. I am that Heir's issue, and I am about to see the rightful Blood brought back to power." If Sulara gave him any more incredulous stares upon hearing his certainly remarkable story, then he would assure her with this -and indeed, he was enticing the girl, hopeful that after their talk, she would do just what he was about to say. "If you doubt my words, then you should ask Heir Apparent Rihan himself. Surely he can assure you that we are two long lost cousins of a sort."Kazage knew his words must seem blasphemous -treasonous even- but it was not in his nature to be so concerned with what most other people thought about what he said or did. | |

| Eolyn’s cheeks were flushed once more as he flattered her. She knew he was not simply being courteous and that he truly thought her to be graceful. Who was she to deny it? Allowing her betrothed to lead her back to the table, she thought about his response. Planning, well she would have some say in some of it but most of the planning would be done by her mother and father. She would be permitted to voice her opinions but they would be making the final decisions and be in control of making certain everything was running smoothly. Although that would normally mean she needed to help her mother out, her younger sister was supposed to be helping her mother now that Eolyn would be moving out. No better time for her to begin than the present, according to her father. Despite all of this she decided she should be happy for Rihan being here at all. He could have easily remained at Telgar until the wedding. One more day would have to be enough, for now. When she was seated, she sipped at a glass of wine, declining any food. She normally had a very healthy appetite but all the excitement had put her off food, even after dancing. As the conversation turned to the wedding, she smiled. “Oh the preparations are going very well. Courisse and I went to the weavers almost immediately after hearing the news of my betrothal. I have to be the best dressed for my own wedding.” She wanted to be the best dressed most of the time as it was. “I’m not going to give you any details on the gown because I want it to be a surprise.” She didn’t want to say she had so little control over the planning. Instead she answered as if she were in the thick of all the planning all of the time. Better to let him think she would be kept busy. “Now that we’ve moved the date up, the whole flower scheme will have to be reworked. There are different flowers in season. Not to worry though, everything will be beautiful.” There was conviction in her voice but truthfully, Eolyn was not going to notice the flowers much on the day of her wedding. She would be so focused on him and the actual event they would be gathered for. “I do not think I will be so nervous now.” She would be so happy and content to be married to him, she doubted she would have any nerves. Unless perhaps she thought he wouldn’t be there. At the moment, she was sure everything would go according to plan. “I mean to say, now that we’ve met, I have nothing to be nervous about.” Eolyn was looking into his eyes again, “I will be so overwhelmed with happiness there will be no room for nervousness or any negative thoughts.” She might die of happiness on that day. Maybe this was all simply infatuation, maybe when she talked to Courisse the other woman would tell her how silly she was being. Eolyn’s naivety made her worried about her own judgment when it came to Rihan. Why should she be worried though? He was everything she wanted in a husband and more. Maybe she blindly trusted that he wanted her to be his wife as much as she wanted to. “Telgar River Hold must be nearing completion since we’re able to be married sooner.” The only thing she had thought of that would make her nervous was moving to her new home. “Can you tell me a little about it? I’ve never been to that region of Telgar.” [img][/img] | |

| “Now that we’ve moved the date up, the whole flower scheme will have to be reworked. There are different flowers in season. Not to worry though, everything will be beautiful.”
The young lord's brow furrowed, feeling a bit disappointed in himself. "It seems I've inconvenienced you unnecessarily. ...If it pleases you, we can move the wedding back to its original date." Typically Rihan wouldn't have considered it a inconvenience for anyone, but now, with his betrothed involved, he would have to start considering things a little differently.
Rihan was glad to hear that Eolyn was not feeling too nervous about marrying him though, and was glad also to hear that she even considered herself happy to be with him. He couldn't help but let grow another little grin -this one seeming almost bashful at the thought that she had taken such a liking to him, and so quickly. Could she be exaggerating in her opinion of him for his sake? Deep down, Rihan got the feeling that somehow Eolyn didn't have it in her to lie well or go too overboard on the flattery for the sake of ego stroking, so he continued to enjoy imagining that she was being completely truthful.
“Telgar River Hold must be nearing completion since we’re able to be married sooner.” The only thing she had thought of that would make her nervous was moving to her new home. “Can you tell me a little about it? I’ve never been to that region of Telgar.”
Her words were first acknowledged by the expansion of his smile. "It is as you say. All of Telgar is looking forward to your arrival so they are working hard to be sure every preparation is made ready." Another drink of his wine brought pause to his speech, but only momentarily, for soon he was leaning an elbow over the table using his left to gesticulate, as if he could paint a picture for her through the air. "Telgar is home to a incredible number of cotholds built on vast plains where we grow a variety of Pern's popular grains. The fields are an endless checkerboard of lush greens and golds as far as the eye can see. The Hold of Telgar itself however, is built right against the mountains, so it stands majestic and steadfast as its past rulers. There are a splendid number of great pines that grow there, like giant spires reaching into the sky with the distant mountain-top snows appearing like a trimming of delicate white lace until the fullness of winter returns each turn. We do have warm summers, but not as stifling as here. The winters...I fear may take some getting used to for you."
A new spark of excitement and even adoration for his fiance that spawned within his gaze as he continued; perhaps she did not know, but it was very unlike Rihan to be like this -so animated and full of smiles. Of course, the more time he'd spent with her that day -especially after their dance- Rihan had begun relaxing in Eolyn's presence, desiring only to be closer to her and know more about her. "I will tell you...Telgar River Hold is not as large as Telgar itself, but no less splendid. I am building a garden for you there, for you to enjoy. The vision that I've had of it has changed though, since meeting you. There will be a water fountain at its center and pathways that meander through themed sections for the cooks for tea, for herbs... but then There will be a secluded area in the garden where we will grow only flowering plants and flowering trees." Meeting her eyes then, he must have gotten himself so lost in her own deep blue gaze that he'd forgotten about her father and mother sitting just on the other side of him. Surely Rihan and Eolyn at that moment were the perfect portrait of the young and in love couple that they were.
"There can only be flowers there, in that part of the garden made just for you, because..." Certainly he'd become lost in those eyes of hers, as blue as azure as the sky; certainly he'd forgotten in that moment where they were, because his voice became all but a longing whisper, that right hand relinquishing the wine glass he'd held to the table so that he could cup Eolyn's cheek with a gentle palm. "Only flower blossoms could resemble your beauty, so pure and ephemeral, bringing peace to all who see you. Dear Lady Eolyn, simply having you near me will make everything in life brilliant. I can see a future like that... with you at my side, in a garden of blossoms."
Uttering no more words then, Rihan began to awake to the fact that the more time he spent with Eolyn the more he felt lost to himself. What was this thing that made him act this way? Was this 'falling in love'? Was it simply the desire he had for her as a man? Oh, he did desire her; he desired her greatly, and in so many ways. Placing a seal on the passion of his heart, it was difficult not to continue the outpouring of fervent words. But, no, he couldn't continue to lose sight of himself in a place like this. He would have to bear it only a little longer anyway. One day soon, they would be together, alone, where they could spend every hour and every heartbeat getting to know one another, and expressing their love to one another. | |

| Relieved that Sh'nar hadn't thought badly of her for her manners, Belisse's smile returned. His compliments made her cheeks color, and she sipped at her wine. Probably not the best of ideas: her head was already spinning. But she was sitting here, with Sh'nar's attention solely on her, and saying such wonderful things about her.
"I'm glad you have so much faith in me," she answered him, truly grateful for the mention. "It makes sense... who they pick though, doesn't it? It would be a mess if Jeneveth were matched with Lancelle, for instance." The thought of that actually made her grin a little: Lance on anything other than a flaming green made no sense at all. "And Weyrwoman Karene has already taught me so much." She suppressed a sigh. Soon they would be graduating, and her friends would be assigned to Wings and she would go to the Queen's Wing. While she was excited to take her place and learn more about leading a Weyr, she would miss the free moments with her classmates.
At his joke of bringing a gift from the Harper Hall her eyes brightened. "Hm, perhaps," she said in an attempt to be coy, but the smile that just wouldn't go away made it more playful. "If you'll sing for me, I'll play for you. How is that? Jeneveth loves to listen to me play. Does Cymrioth like your music?"
Casting a quick glance around, Belisse bit her lip guiltily. "I kind of skipped out on them today," she admitted. "I was hoping to get the chance to spend the day with... ," she trailed off, cheeks flaming a brilliant red. None of her friends approved of Sh'nar, even if they (mostly) hadn't said anything outright yet. And she knew that they would have kept her too busy to spend any time with the bronzerider.
So she had left early, leaving a note of apology and explanation to Raeca in her weyr, and managed to find Sh'nar immediately. Everything had worked out perfectly, but she didn't want to admit it to him just yet.
Luckily N'kyr was there and saying hello, and she took the opportunity to look away from Sh'nar and let her heart slow. N'kyr was a rather distant fellow, but pleasant enough in the few interactions they'd had. "Don't be so formal, N'kyr," she told him with a smile. "It's a Gather. Have you been enjoying yourself today?" She cast her gaze sideways for just a brief moment, even just that brief look making her blush again. Perhaps N'kyr would stay around long enough for her to be able to look at her companion. | |

| Presumptuous. Arrogant. Shameless. She could think of several words that described the exile and not a one would be considered flattering. No consideration for her wishes or desires. Obviously, he had lost some of his mental capacities while facilitating his dream of being related to a Holder family. Sulara thought it might be best for her to allow him to think that he had some chance with her for now rather than to risk him doing anything rash. Sadly he had not taken the bait to leave her to talk to her father. It would have been the perfect opportunity to escape the stalker. “Indeed, Lady Eolyn is very fortunate.” Her eyes drifted to the couple on the dance floor. They were sickeningly perfect. She had not ever been in the company of either for more than a few moments and had never really had designs of any kind on Rihan. She was hoping, however, that her words might sting Kazage a little. It was no less than he would deserve for treating her how he was. Despite his attempts to appear the contrary. When he forced her to look into his eyes, she wanted to squirm but she met them nonetheless. “Why should Lord Rihan have any reason to acknowledge an event which happened so long ago not a soul knows of its certainty? For all he knows you could be the great grandson of a steward. Unless you have some proof of your heritage.” She took a step back so that he would release her chin. In the back of her mind the voice which was her strength, which she leaned on when she needed to, asked her what her aunt would do in this situation. She would turn him away even if he were a man of influence. His behavior was enough to warrant her complete rejection here and now. Sulara’s voice was ice, “You’ve had your say, now let me tell you something. I won’t marry you whatever the circumstances.” And if he forced her to, she would be the most miserable and hateful woman. Her aunt would never allow that, all she had to do was ask and she would be at the Weyr. As it was, she liked her life and had never asked. A sweet smile was directed at her betrothed, “You could never inconvenience me. The flower arrangements are easily changed. I would much prefer to be married sooner than wait and have the flowers unchanged.” His obvious concern for causing her more work was touching. While she was mentally gushing over her future husband he had begun to answer her question. She doubted all of Telgar would be happy to hear of her arrival. Certainly there were young women all over Telgar whose hearts were now breaking. Eolyn watched his hands for a moment as he explained what Telgar was like. Then she closed her eyes. There was a picture forming in her mind. As he became more animated in telling her about his home she became more excited to see it. “I will grow used to the weather over time.” She assured him, although the thought of a cold winter made her consider what she would be wearing to stay warm. Surely they would dress more heavily in the winter. Her eyes opened at his mention of a garden. Her own eyes seemed completely lost in his, “For me?” The question was answered as soon as the words left her mouth. His hand was on her cheek before she could say anything else. Her own reached up to touch the very hand, cupping her own over it. With each word uttered, she felt her heart beat louder. Would it beat so loud that he could hear it? The strength of it, sent her wondering if it were capable of beating right out of her chest. “I don’t know if I can live up to such high standards. I would like to be all of the things you want and need me to be. You are the most charming, handsome, courageous and clever man I’ve ever met. Nothing in my life can go wrong while you are my protector. I can see us in flowering garden for a very long time.” In all honesty, she wasn’t sure forever would be long enough. | |

| “Everything is as it should be. The dragons always know who is best for them. I would never doubt Cymrioth’s judgment for the dragon is a logical being and seems to have some amount of wisdom that I have yet to gain.” There was obviously a clear reason for dragons to choose their riders and not the other way around. They chose who would be most compatible with their own personalities and also those who would be able to handle the life their perspective colors and achievable ranks would permit. There were still lazy Bronzes and ambitious blues but it made sense that each dragon chose a person who could handle the demands that would be made of them. Cymrioth had drifted off to sleep with the Gold, while his rider contemplated what she said. “He doesn’t dislike singing but I cannot say he enjoys it particularly.” The reason was not because his rider was any less of a singer than he protested. The dragon saw no reason to waste time on frivolity when they should be working toward their goals as much as possible. If his rider had time to sing, he had time to practice and schmooze as well. They both wanted prestige and they weren’t going to achieve it via the Harper Hall. Sh'nar couldn’t help but think that Karene was going to try to influence Belisse’s future in some way. Although he couldn’t think of how at the moment, he would try to come up with something at some point. Perhaps shake the young woman’s belief in everything the Weyrwoman said. The mutual distrust between himself and Weyrwoman Karene was not to be overlooked. “I think that’s a deal then. Maybe we can work on a song together?” He would use it as an opportunity to woo her. This would also give Cymrioth time with Jeneveth. If he was working on a song with her then his dragon would have no cause to assume he was shirking duty. He tried to act like he wasn’t surprised but it was rather shocking to hear her confess such a thing. Luckily for him he had time to sort through his thoughts. What she was going to say, what name she was going to finish that sentence with. He watched as she blushed and wouldn’t look at him. It was obvious she had either meant to say him, or N’kyr who had abruptly come upon them. No doubt the brown noser was trying to sweep Belisse off to the dance floor. Attempting to be care free, “I see someone has finally convinced you to attend a party, Nkyr. You are welcome to come and sit with us between dances.” He could have meant it if he wasn’t interested in Belisse being his and his alone. Still his hand indicated a chair next to Belisse. Keeping his enemy closer would only ensure that he was around to watch him and gage his motives. | |

| No, Kazage had no intentions of approaching the Lord of Southern Boll today. He was only here to make himself known to Sulara and see how difficult it might be to win her heart.
“Indeed, Lady Eolyn is very fortunate.”
The sting intended by those words was lost on him obviously, since he seemed to take it more as a compliment. Even without the hint of a smile, the light of his eyes shown he was not being untruthful when making his reply to her, "I'm glad you realize that. She is very lucky to be marrying into Telgar's House. I am offering you the same opportunity." Of course as sly as he was, the man would have come up with some way to make it seem all the more favourable for her to want to be with him. Even if his skills in the arena of ...impressing women did need some... fine tuning. Kazage was handsome at least.
When the girl went on at him about his credentials, even though she spoke rather aggravatedly toward him, it might have seemed curious that he actually seemed to be listening to her words with the concentration of more caring intent than should have been warranted in such an instance, seeing as she'd only shown him much disfavour thus far in their meeting.
"My Lady, there most certa..." And he would have been cut off as she continued coldly, but he showed only the vaguest frustration in his eyes that she had decided to act in such a way toward him. In no way was he dissuaded, but that didn't mean her words didn't hurt him, even if just a little. But he didn't let that hurt run too deep because this was only their first meeting. He supposed that he would have to alter his approach of Sulara a bit to help the girl understand just how fine a pair they would be. She would come to see things his way eventually and be more agreeable in the future.
It would just take time. Kazage would do whatever it took to woo her.
=========================================================================================
Glad that his betrothed seemed eager and happy to accompany him to Telgar, each time that Eolyn smiled or spoke amidst his pauses, Rihan could only continue smiling in return.
Completing his thoughts, he must have flushed at her words when hearing her compliment him so highly. For the briefest of moments, his eyes even turned down and away from her in a bashful sort of way while he took his hand back from her cheek where she cupped it.
"I am glad that am all of these wonderful things in your eyes. Please don't worry though. You will be perfect." Regarding the self-doubt she'd expressed, he met her eyes again to say, "You already live up to high standards every day. Just continue being you, and continue loving me. Having your love is very important to me, Eolyn. You, above all others, will always be the most important person in my life as long as I have your love. One day, when you are with me in Telgar, I will explain it to you..." He was grinning again at that, and went to finish eating.
"Lady Eolyn?" Pausing with a certain measure of uncertainly upon his features, Rihan allowed a barely audible sigh to escape him, revealing reluctance to continue, "Would it be completely inconsiderate of me in your eyes if I were to excuse myself in order to retire for the evening? There is still one more day for the gather, and I would like to be well rested for it, so that we can get the most out of it when we have all day to be together."
Rihan did not want to have to admit to her that he was feeling rather drained of energy because of the day's events, and offered no other explanation than what he'd told her already.
=========================================================================================
Courisse had hurried to the feast as quickly as she had Flynn ready to run out the door in new shoes. She was more than a little eager to get to the party in order to meet with Zahir, and now, in her excitement, had completely forgotten about the poor suitor Lord from Nerat who likely still believed that she was Eolyn. She wasn't even considering that man when she began to wonder who else she'd end up dancing with. Maybe a Dragonrider would ask her to dance! After all she couldn't dance with her cousin all night, so may as well keep it spicy. Certainly a Bronzerider would do the trick.
Still wearing her ruby red dress accentuated by intricate gold beading and frill, the girl skipped away on her own path toward the Head of the tables to seat herself next to where her Lady would normally have been seated.
Well, Eolyn must have just come back from the dance floor or really taken her time to eat, because there was still a lot of food on her plate. Courisse was surprised though to see Rihan sitting next to her, by Igen's Lord. At first Courisse didn't speak up and simply seated herself quietly just on the other side of her Lady Eolyn, since it seemed as though the two of them were in the middle of some deep conversation. Such patience never seemed to last long on her however, as even before she'd had a chance to spy furtive glances down the table at Zahir, she was interrupting the two new love birds.
"Oh! Yooouu're Lord & Heir Apparent Rihan? Huh! No wonder Eolyn seemed so taken with you when we were freshening up. She has yet to divulge any of the juicy details about today's excitement, but I hear that Telgar's Eldest is a very skilled and courageous man. I suppose I need to thank you for saving my Lady from those scoundrels today. Certainly something much worse would have happened if you hadn't been there to intervene oh her behalf."
The girl's expressions were quite animated, and were many, as she spoke. Perhaps her speech was a bit too free just then, seeing as though Eolyn never seemed to mind giving her that freedom, so Courisse'd become used to speaking rather openly. Of course, given her nature, Courisse tended to think more about what she said after the fact.

| Sulara felt herself wishing the man away as her words were ineffective. Or at least they seemed so as he continued to believe she would be marrying him. As she seemed determined to have nothing to do with him, it seemed to her that her own adamant refusals were having the opposite affect she intended for them. As he grew silent in his thoughts, so had she. This would be the perfect opportunity to slip away, back to the cautious gaze of her father, at least for the time being.
“Goodbye Kazage.” She said not thinking to give him any title as he had yet to prove he was worthy of one at all. And to call him and exile loudly would possibly bring more attention to him than he needed. She might not particularly like the fellow but she was not about to get him into trouble either. Hopefully he would take that as a sign of good will and not as a sign that she wanted to marry him. Sulara walked quietly away from the dancing, slipping easily in and out among the maze of people till she came to where her father was eating and drinking. --
All of her attention was on her betrothed to the point where she had sort of blocked out the rest of the world without thinking. He was new to her and every one of his mannerisms was a wonder to her. “I will try to keep myself from worrying. “ She found herself hoping she wouldn’t muddle things up with her words then. “You have my love from now until forever.” And the words which sprang out after were almost out completely before she had time to think about what they might mean to him. “I only ask for one thing in return.” She paused thinking it needed no explanation and then thinking perhaps it did. “For you to love me too.”
As he had turned his attention to food, she had sipped at her water. His question came just before Courisse’s chatter. “No, my Lord, I would think you would be tired after journeying so far to be here and then spending the day looking out for my well-being. I should be retiring soon myself.” Her head turned at Courisse’s voice. “Lord Rihan, this is my cousin, Lady Courisse.” Eolyn introduced then cut off her cousin before she could say anything to keep Lord Rihan from getting his rest. “Yes, I’m afraid we’ve already danced quite a bit. I hope Flynn wasn’t too much trouble.”
--
Zahir had done his duty, dancing with many young Lady’s from various Holds. He was bored to death of them. The ones who were intelligent were glum looking girls without a fun bone in their bodies. The lively, fun, pretty girls were dumber than dimglows. So after having to suffer for over a candlemark he went in search of more pleasurable company.
“Sister, Lady Courisse…” He acknowledged more out of habit than care of formalities.
“I need to steal your lady’s maid Eolyn, just for a dance or two…” Eolyn nodded, watching her brother like a hawk. If he wasn’t such an asshole to her then she might not have disliked him so much. However, she knew that Courisse and Zahir had been friends for a long long time. Why should she begrudge them some time together. Especially knowing that Courisse had not yet been able to dance and Zahir had likely been stepped on multiple times tonight.
“Good.” He said with a charming slightly lopsided smile, as he extended his hand to Courisse. “Let me escort you to the floor, Lady.”

| "Lady Sulara, I'm not through speaking with you." Kazage's tone imparted some hint of hopefulness that she might decide to remain and visit with him for longer.
The Exile had reached to take Sulara's hand, but at second thought, refrained from doing so as the Lady departed from him. Her back turned to him, his brow furrowed, eyes appearing even more narrow as he growled and gritted his teeth in frustration. Sulara was very young, so he let that be his reasoning for her being disrespectful and blatantly refusing him.
For now, that would have to suffice and he would have to let her go. Perhaps a second day of Gather would offer a better opportunity to spend time with the young Lady and persuade her oppinions of him to be more favourable.
Kazage left from the dance floor, disapearing into a crowd of gather goers returning to their tables for more feasting, and while he joined them in eating, observed his far removed cousin from a distance.

Listening to Eolyn respond to his own sentiments with continued professions of her own feelings toward him, there was nothing more he felt he had to say. When she requested his eternal love in return, she was simply met by a continuation of his smile and promise-filled eyes.
Rihan thought Eolyn's manner very cute for how infatuated with him she seemed to be, after just their first meeting. Certainly he would look forward to another day at Gather with her.
Relieved when Eolyn didn't object to his turning in for the evening, Rihan was about to rise from his chair when Lady Courisse arrived. Admittedly, he was a little amused by the girl's immediate and constant stream of chatter, almost allowing himself a laugh, but thought the better of it.
Having recognized Courisse from earlier in the day though they'd never had a chance to exchange introductions, he nodded his acknowledgement her way, "Lady Courisse. A great pleasure to meet my finace's Maid. And cousin no less? I have a cousin here as well, who serves as the Steward of my Hold, whom you should meet. Of course you will join us tomorrow morning and I'll be glad to introduce the two of you."
His gaze returned to Eolyn's, "For now, I will leave you. Please don't tire yourself too greatly, and see that you get enough rest. It has been a difficult day for you." Smiling gently at her again when he said these things, he then stood from his chair and after a curt bow to the Ladies, turned to bid goodnight to Eolyn's parents. He would be able to see them all again the next day to spend more time with all of them.
=====================================================================================
When Rihan decided to depart from them, Courisse whispered wonderingly, "Did I say something wrong?" She was equally confounded as to what she should do in the case that Rihan was obviously trying to set her up with his own Cousin. But she didn't have any plans to let Rihan do such a thing, though he was a Lord in his own right so she felt that she had no right to object to his request -especially since she would obviously be accompanying Eolyn to the Gather anyway. An introduction to the Telgar Steward seemed inevitable, and wasn't inappropriate, so she doubly had no reason to object. Courisse hoped that that didn't mean unwanted double dates and a game of match making at her expense weren't in the near future. Somehow though, she was beginning to dread that just such a thing was in store.
Rihan had just left them when Zahir appeared from behind her, having just returned from the dance floor. Courisse was giggling when the much-suspected tension between the two siblings turned into suspicious glares. Glad to hear of Zahir's suggestion that the two of them dance, she stood up, placing her hand within Zahir's awaiting grasp, offering a little curtsie to her Lady as she was off to the dance floor. "Don't worry, my Lady, you can count on me to keep your brother preocupied enough that he isn't able to harass you."
She was winking at Zahir then, moving off with him to join the other dancers.
Throughout the next couple of dances, the two of them seemed very in tune with one another and more intimate in their stares than probably appropriate. It wasn't infrequent either, that they danced very closely.
