Character Aspirations:
I would like to add here before I get started he is still a child and his aspirations are likely to change.
Right now he would like to apprentice to a craft so that he will not have to be a drudge like his mother; and so that he can be equal or better than his brother Dyseus. It’s that competitive nature in him, plus that’s the only way he can really be a man. He doesn’t think much, like his brother, about the kind of people he surrounds himself with, as long as they’ll accept that he has the potential to be their leader. If he happens to impress, he’s set his mind on that it can be no less than a Bronze, because that is the only choice for someone like him with the kind of competitive instinct he has. He has not yet decided if he would like to stay at the Weyr -that might just depend on his brother and whether or not he impresses, and he has not thought much about what his personal life will be in the future outside of being close to his brother. That’s the expectation anyway. He cannot imagine his life separated from Deseus. Oryan likewise, does not think of things like womanizing yet. He has hardly begun to consider those kinds of things.

✣Style of Dress: Doesn’t intend to be well dressed, because that would hamper his boyish style and he would have to be too cautious about not getting dirty. Generally he wears hand-me-downs and they are made of coarse fabrics with muted browns/ tans and other earthy tones like yellow, orange and red. Part of the time he wears a bandanna around his neck, as his shirt collar is always left loose. He wears relaxed fit trousers, his pants always belted whether or not he tucks his shirt in. The only clothing he’s really particular about is his shoes -he wants to wear his boots and he takes pride in them, because they’re good leather boots that his dad bought for him. He has a jacket for cooler days that’s dark reddish ochre in colour and double breasted with button detail across both sides.

History:
✣Oryan’s mother was in an unusual predicament when she gave birth to him. Her sister was giving birth at the same time to another little boy, both being of the same father. The boys were born only minutes apart and were given the nickname of being "not twins" by the Creche nannies. The name has followed the boys throughout their turns at the Weyr.

While Oryan was well loved by both his mother and his aunt, there were no adult men in his young life that spent any amount of time with him. The person he spent the most time with, his half-brother, Dyseus, was almost identical to him in appearance, but they had more differences in personality. Where Dyseus preferred to remain in the background and stay out of trouble, Oryan was constantly getting them into it.

Eventually both of them became involved in a group known as the Brat Pack. During his time with the Brat Pack he realized how easily he could rally the others together and get them to follow in his schemes. Still, it was another thing to get them to stick to any one plan. Instead, half of them tended to do things their way, which ended up getting them caught and being given consequences befitting the crime. Regardless of those minor mishaps, Oryan was determined to lead them one day. After the last of the older kids moved on, the Brat Pack would be his to take, without dispute, and then they’d come up with an even greater plan of devising their fun that would be totally worth it!


More than any of his other siblings, Oryan’s relationship with Dyseus is one nurtured the most. The two of them appear to be nearly identical, as if they’d been born as twins. Many of their personality traits are very similar, yet manifest in different ways.. Their differences cause some conflict between the two boys at times, but they always seem to come back to common ground; it’s an unbreakable bond between the two.


Oryan finds that his brother’s dream of dragonhealing is not very manly, so he has decided that if he doesn’t impress, he’ll take on the most manly craft he can think of.At least in his oppinion.



Personality:
✣Intelligent but tends to have a selective memory for things.
✣Hard working.
✣Doesn’t mind getting dirty and rough. He’s a boy after all.
✣Doubter. Or most likely, takes on the attitude that he ‘knows better’ than the other kids. A lot of that attitude is an act though.
✣More accepting of change and more easily adaptable than his brother.
✣Even if he doesn’t fight well, he wants to. He wants to help fend for his siblings and stick up well enough for himself. He puts on a tough act so that he can grow up to be a respected man.
✣He’s very naturally curious and explorative.
✣Wants to feel in control of his life. (Even if he never actually is)
✣Not as good at communicating as his brother.
✣Wants to do good things for people, has a warm heart, but he has trouble expressing that part of himself due to an imbalance of the young and masculine side of himself that wants to be recognized as a strong, upstanding young male. He doesn’t quite know yet how to find that balance in personality traits, so even if he tries to do good, he more often than not, just finds himself in trouble. Likewise, wants others to look up to him -especially siblings.
✣Jealous of anything his brother gets to do that he doesn’t. He wants to be just as good as Dyseus or prove he’s better.
✣Competitive -but mostly as it concerns his brother Dyseus.
✣More aggressive than his brother, but not necessarily prone to as many fights as he is just prone to general trouble.
✣Has a funny habit of trying to be more grown up than he is, by acting or saying things that a ‘man’ would do. This trait is especially prevalent when he’s around his secret crush. He wants her to think of him very highly, and know that he’s a ‘real man’. For that reason, he really wants to begin an apprenticeship in a ‘manly’ craft so that he can get stronger and show her just how grown up and manly he is. He really wants to impress others -even if his plans/ actions end up backfiring.
✣Will become more cultivated as he grows up, and a little less awkward about communicating himself to others. He’ll also find a better balance of his gentle and rougher masculinity.


Shortcomings:
✣Has a hard time finding balance between the side of him that wants to be strong and tough like boys should be, and the good side of him that wants to do better than just being a troublesome boy.
✣Others are familiar enough of his attitude that things are more easily blamed on him, even if he isn’t always a trouble maker.
✣Selective memory.


Mannerisms/ Habits:
✣Taking the leadership role -even if he’s unsure of himself as to how to lead others, he still asserts himself in that position frequently.

Skills/ Likes:
✣[Chaos]: Being able to run into the fray and overcome any obstacle. That means you’re strong like a man! And it gives him a chance to prove himself as being grown up.
✣[Exploring]: He’s a very curious sort and wants to know the unknown. Anyway, he’ll know EVERYTHING one day, soon enough. He’s catching up to the grown ups


Unskilled at/ Dislikes:
✣[Being told what to do]: Grownups don’t get told what to do!
✣[Being Clean]: skin and clothes are just going to get dirty again, anyway! Why wash them now?


Fighting Style/ Weapon of Choice:
None yet really. He does use a sling shot now and then but not on people. Unlike his brother, he’ll use his fists periodically too, and his feet to kick, but he’s not really a fighter at heart. When he does get into a fight, it’s because he thinks it’s something a real grown up man would do.
