There will only be (on average) two MAJOR events allowed per season on the board. This is to help spread events out so that we aren't getting bogged down with too much going on at once, or delaying the movement of time. Admins have these Main Events planned out in advance and they will be announced on the News in the side column for current and upcoming events with the dates RL time those events will fall. At the end date of an event RL time, threads pertaining to that event are likely to be closed so that the board can move on to other important events.
If players need to limit their interaction so that they can focus on a select number of threads with select characters at any given time, feel free to do so, if it helps you maintain activity in a necessary thread. i.e. maintaining involvement in a Gather thread vs other side threads, where the Gather may be more plot important and because it's a Major Event, it has a set time the thread will be running in.
Admins will do their best to allow enough time for posts in Major Event threads for all players to be able to get a significant number of posts in before they're closed out. However, in the end, it's up to the player to keep on top of being active with it.
In the end, the RL timeline for Main Events is not to rush players, but to keep interest in things. If too much time is spent on a single event, interest is lost and we continue postponing other fun events, such as Hatchings!
